An act of Service?!

This is Romans first week of hanging out with us while his mom is at work.  Yesterday Landon is playing with him and Landon says "Can I do something really really nice for Whitney?"  I tell him sure that is a good idea.  He gets excited and goes to get what he needs and tells me how he likes to do really really nice things.  He is always my loving one.  He is in the front closet I ask him what he has planned?  "Well, the really really nice thing I am going to do is give Roman a haircut."  Oh, no I am so glad I asked.  I explained to him that we don't cut other peoples hair especially not some one who does not live with us.  He so kindly told me how he is a boy and has really long hair and Whitney would like it if he helped her by cutting it.  Roman we love your long hair even when it gets a little Monica like on rainy days!
Whitney, don't worry the scissors are up high.

Popcorn Popping

Van loves to eat, popcorn is his favorite.  The other day he asked me to get his popcorn for him and I told him he would have to wait a couple minutes, waiting is not his strong point.  I watched him push over his stool and then it got interesting and I was glad I was right next to my camera.
---puts in his popcorn, closes the door, hits the popcorn button, the 3, the 0, and start.---
---happy as can be as he tells me "I did it all by myself!---
---runs to the bathroom and makes it back before the timer beeps
(he always does this while his popcorn pops)---
It is kind of nice to know that he is fully capable of making his own popcorn but a little scary at the thought that one of these days he will open the popcorn bag on his own and burn himself.  Boy this kid is independent!!

Gunner Grey

I started this post over a week ago and am just getting around to finishing it.
Gunner Grey is officially on the charts!!  You don't know how exciting that is unless you have dealt with your kid not being on the charts.  At four months he is...
         25 inches long---50%
         15.75 head cir.----5%
         10#10 oz----------1%
(He is up three pounds from his birth weight four months ago)
I will admit that he was close to not making it into the 1st % but I think the doc felt for me after the whole Van thing and gave me the big number 1.  YAHOO!!  I will take it!  We are giving Gunner some extra calories if only he woulds slow down and stop burning them so fast he might keep some weight on.  He spends most of his time rolling around the house, he is fast, and he knows where he wants/needs to go.  Most of the time he is rolling away from Van or over to Roman.  He loves Roman but I think he loves Romans bottle even more.  I lay Gunner down with his bottle, he drinks his as fast as he can and rolls over to Roman and tries to take his bottle away.  He would be successful at this except that I am the one holding Romans bottle.

Gunner also had his first trip to after hours and the diagnosis is two ear infections.  I just love ear infections it is an instant change of schedule up all night sleep some of the day up all night.... I hope that you don't have them all winter.

It went kinda like this:
Me:   Van we are going to the doctor for your 3 year check up and Gunners 4 month check up.
Van:  No!  I hate the doctor I am not going!!
Me:   Forcing him into the car...not a pretty site and it was defiantly not peaceful.
Medical Assistant:  Will you step on the scale we just need your weight.
Van: No!  Arms folded and feet not moving
Me:  Picked him up and placed him on the scale.
MA: Okay lets get your height.
Me:  Once again picking him up and putting his non-cooperative self against the wall.
Van: Yelling at the poor MA...you messed up my hair.
Me:  thinking...really your hair?! It has never not been in a Mohawk since the day you were born!
Finally making it into the room.
MA:  Okay lets get your blood pressure.
  Van:  I hate that!
MA:  We have to do it (she was really patient with the beast of a child).
MA:  Happily leaves the room as fast as she can.
Doc comes in checks out Gunner and on to Van....
Doc:  Van do you know your colors?
Van:  NO!  Then gives in and tells all the colors in the room, counts for him, and sings his ABC's.
Doc:  Okay Van hop up it is your turn.
Van:  Fine but you are NOT taking my pants off and you are NOT putting the stick in my mouth!
Doc:  No I am not taking your pants off and if you open your mouth big I won't use a stick.
Van:  Actually cooperates for a minute then gets off the table and starts walking out while saying I am done I am going home now and opens the door.
Doc:  How are you getting home?
  Van:  The steering wheel.
Me:   No you are not get back in here.
Van:  Oh I need the keys.
Me:   You can't have them they are hidden.
Van:  Yes I can you hide them in the diaper bag.
Me:   About to kill him...get him back in and back on track..
Doc:  Can you petal your trike?
Van:  I am big I have a big bike not a trike and I don't wear a helmet and I love to crash into all the trash cans!
Me:   For reals did he just say that?!  Then I ask about sedating Van for his dentist appointment.
Van:  Interrupts and tells the Doc... I hate the dentist I bite him!
Doc:  Could not hold it in any more and just starts laughing.
It pretty much ends there....yeah right, I wish, on to the shots....
Just use your imagination!  Any one want to go the the doctor with Van?!  It is a great experience!

Well Van, you are outspoken and full of fire but we love you!  Just for the books here is your info
Height:    3"5  50%
Weight:   34 solid pounds of muscle 75%

Congrats Landon!

Landon has official finished his first quarter of Kindergarten!  It was off to a rough start but is going great now.  He loves his teacher and class.  However homework is not his favorite thing.  He would rather go to school to socialize.  He spends more time thinking about what he is going to wear to school than thinking about what he is going to do in school.  A couple weeks ago his homework was to draw three things you use at school.  I read him his assignment and then start helping the others as I walked by to check on him I see this....

Yep, you read that right the toilet.  I forced him to add two more things to the list and you can see that they are much smaller and not as important to him!  I am happy to say that he does do his work at school, his teacher likes him and he got student of the month for September!

Good Job Landon!
